Hard Reset WP7 with buttons not software

Hard Reset your Windows Phone 7 device (WP7)

Had some issues when removing a 32Gb micro SD card from my Samsung Focus WP7 phone, it came back saying that the SD card had been removed and to either put it back in or reset your phone, it then went on to say read your manual to figure out how to do the hard reset (didn't find anything in the manual!). If the phone is running then the hard reset is rather easy (Settings -> About) but when the phone is not working it's a bit more of a challenge… This is how I did it!

1. Press and hold the Camera, Volume Down, and Power buttons simultaneously.

2. Release Power when the phone vibrates, but continue to hold down Camera and Volume Down.

3. Release Camera and Volume Down when the Format prompt is displayed on screen.

4. Press .

5. Press again to confirm the hard reset.

Garmin Tips and Tricks

Question:  My Edge or Forerunner 205/305 won't power on. Is there a soft reset that I can do?

Answer:

If a Forerunner or Edge 205/305 is unable to power on, a soft reset can be performed to un-freeze it. This will not erase any user data and is most effective if the device is connected to the computer while performing the reset.

To reset the Forerunner or Edge 205/305:

  1. Connect the device to the computer using the USB cable
  2. Press and hold the mode and reset (lap) buttons together for 10 seconds
  3. Release and wait for 3 seconds
  4. There should be some indication of battery charging (either Finished or In Process)
  5. Power the device on while keeping it connected to the computer

I think this can also be done without the connection to the computer…

Moose Meadow Lodge - Christmas 2007
I just wanted to take this opportunity to promote Moose Meadow Lodge in Vermont.  Willie Docto is a friend of Kira's through there involvement in singing the Messiah at Our Lady of the Snow's chruch in Woodstock Vermont.

We visited Willie and Greg for a night's stay on December the 21st and had an absolutely fantatstic time.  I cannot express enough my sincere gratitude to Willie and Greg for the warmth and fun of their hospitality.

One night was equivalent to a weeks break anywhere else.  I highly recommend the lodge to anyone looking to take a break; more details on the lodge can be found here:
